Vacation Programs
When school is out, we're in!
Connecticut Science Center's vacation camps are meant to provide exciting programs for families seeking to enhance their child's understanding of science through out-of-school activities. Camps are fee-based programs held during the summer season, during some school vacations, and during some holidays.

- $270/week Members
- $285/week Employees of businesses in Downtown Hartford
Week 1 (7/6-7/9) – Don’t break the laws, Newton’s Laws!
Rockets, cars, even table cloths and dishes follow Isaac Newton’s Three Laws of Motion. This week we will experiment with the forces and motion of everyday objects. Use your new knowledge to design and race rockets and a super fast CO2 powered race car that you can take home. This is a FAST week so don’t be left behind! ($13 material fee for CO2 powered car)
Week 2 (7/12) – Be a Forensic Scientist
Campers will discover the field of molecular biology and be a forensic scientist for the week.
They will explore different types of analysis that Crime Scene Investigators must use to help determine a suspect’s guilt or innocence. Everyday will be a new investigation where they will collect data to lead them to making a final judgment. At the end of this week, campers will bring home their own CSI evidence diary and their own fingerprint analysis. Be a part of our CSI team and help us solve the crime
Week 3 (7/19) - Protecting our Planet!
Expanding upon our Wet Lab, Planet Earth and Energy City galleries, join us for a week of investigation and exploration of planet earth. Test the water quality of the Connecticut River and discover what kinds of healthy critters live there. Experiment with solar cells, wind power, and hydrogen fuel cells as you design an eco-friendly model town and power grid using both conventional and alternative fuel power plants. Can you save our planet?
Week 4 (7/26) – Sight and Sound
Campers will explore a range of phenomena relating to light and sound, learning how they are the same and how they are different. Come and discover how we hear and see, and how we use the science of light and sound in our everyday lives today and in the future.
Week 5 (8/2) – Robots In Your Life
What is a Robot? How do they work? What can be done with them? All of these things and more will be discovered and explored in this exciting week of hands-on projects and experiments in Robotics. Campers will learn how to program an actual microprocessor controlled Robot to perform a variety of tasks in a real-world environment using various sensors in different situations. The campers will also get to build a Robot that they will keep and take home. ($20 materials fee for Robot)
Week 6 (8/9) – Fun With Chemicals
Campers will experience all sorts of cool (and sometimes messy) chemical reactions. What makes things fizz, change color, get hot, and sometimes even smell bad. Everything is made up of something and how those things interact is chemistry. During this week campers will learn what chemistry is and how it is affects their everyday lives.
Week 7 (8/16) - Discover Yourself
Create the Beginning of Your Life’s Story - Campers will complete scientific investigations that will lead them to discovering information about themselves through the investigation of all five of their senses. How do we interact with our environment and how is every human being different? Using advanced technology students will investigate what makes them who they are; and how they can be affected by different factors in their lives. During the week campers will keep a journal of their experiences and a record of all their own personal data. Everyone is unique- discover what is special about you!
