Home Schools

Science is a challenging subject to teach at home. The Connecticut Science Center provids exhibits, movies and programs to enable experimentation for a variety of ages, along with Gallery Scientists to enhance your experience. Our exhibits tie into the State of Connecticut Science Curriculum and best of all, there's no chance of blowing up the house.

Here's what the Science Center offers home school students and their parents:

General Admission (Exhibit Galleries)

  • General Admission is available 10 AM – 5 PM, Tuesday – Friday.

3D Theater

  • Daytime films typically last 25-40 minutes in length, Tuesdays - Fridays.

Come as a group!

Home schools are eligible for school pricing. Receive valuable discounts and benefits. To qualify for “Group” status:

  • No minimum group size for General Admission.
  • Groups must make a reservation with Reservation Center if arriving by bus or booking a Discovery Center Program.
  • Start the reservation process by filling out the Field Trip Reservation Request Worksheet
  • The minimum class size for Discovery Center programs is 10 students. Groups with fewer than 10 students will be charged for 10 students.

The Science Center works with an exemplary team of science teachers to develop programs based on the Connecticut Core Science Curriculum Framework Standards. Beginning in October 2009, programs addressing several standards will be available for students during school field trips.

The programs below provide for a visit to the Pfizer Foundation Science Discovery Center for an additional charge beyond the general student admission fee. These programs provide teacher access to materials such as classroom lessons, literature links, integrated lessons, performance tasks, embedded tasks, career connections, websites and more for use before, during and after your visit. It is strongly recommended that teachers planning a field trip to the Science Center first attend one of our Professional Development workshops for field trips.
