Overview
The East Coast Debut of Dinosaurs Unearthed: Open Now - September 2, 2012.
For the first time you will experience, up-close, what has excited our imaginations and fascinated us for generations.
You’ve read about dinosaurs in books, seen other exhibits and Hollywood movies, but you’ve never seen dinosaurs like this.
Put aside your pre-conceived notions and immerse yourself in this 7,000 square foot pre-historic and awe-inspiring new exhibit.
Witness 14 animatronic dinosaurs from the Mesozoaic Era come to life, including a 45’ Tyrannosaurus Rex. Walk in their shadows.
Control their movements and hear them roar. Run your hand along fossilized teeth or even dig for fossils.
This blockbuster exhibit is based on most current scientific findings so you see what dinosaurs looked like, how they sounded, and how they
behaved in their own environments. Learn how these massive creatures were unearthed after millions of years and what scientists are
doing to further their research on the fossils they find. This interactive and spectacular showing of dinosaur legend, discovery,
and science will have you engaged and involved every step of the way.
Life-size adventure awaits!
State-of-the-Art Animatronics Technology
Dinosaurs are old. This technology isn’t. Dinosaurs Unearthed contains most life-like experience ever assembled, based on recent discoveries of paleontologists and researchers.
Each highly realistic dinosaur is capable of up to eight separate movements – their eyes blink, mouths open with a roar, necks turn and oscillate, limbs move, bodies
expand and contracts, and tails swing. This state-of the-art, highly customized technology and a dynamic jointing system executes the smooth and quiet movements of
these marvelous creatures.
This is a unique opportunity to witness this cutting edge technology and even control dinosaur movements yourself.
Feathered Dinosaurs?
Did you know that some dinosaurs had feathers and fur instead of scales and that not all were cold-blooded? See the first exhibit in the world to feature feathered dinosaurs,
representing fascinating recent discoveries by paleontologists and a new consensus in the field, that the so-called “terrible lizards” were actually more closely related to birds than any reptile.
You’ll even see how some of our favorites, like the juvenile T-rex, were actually feathered for warmth.
On the Inside: Fossils & Skeletons
These fully articulated skeletons and detailed fossil impression look like they were just dusted off on a dig site and are the key to learning how dinosaurs looked and behave.
This is the most comprehensive and extensive fossil collection in North America. Stand next to a 68 ft long Omeisaurus skeleton and see how massive fames supported the hulking weight of each dinosaur.
Become a paleontologist and unearth your own fossils in this unique hands-on experience of dinosaur discovery.
