Campaign Update

The Connecticut Science Center is in a critical phase of its $150 million campaign to construct, equip, operate and sustain a premier science education destination. At this time, the Center is $8 million from its total goal, but your help is needed now more than ever.

The building is under construction, interactive exhibits to fill 40,000 square feet of exhibit space are in the final phase of design, and programs to improve science education are already being implemented. The new Center will open in early 2009, but we are already having an impact by providing training and resources to teachers, and supporting several statewide and regional science and technology events.

In 2003, the State of Connecticut and the Capital City Economic Development Authority (CCEDA) brought this project to life by committing $107 million in start-up funding for construction costs. Since that time, members of the Center’s Board of Trustees, along with companies, foundations and individuals from across the state, have stepped up to contribute nearly $31 million, and the federal government has provided $4 million for transportation related expenses.
