(Hartford, CT)  March 26, 2008 –   Starting today, web surfers can leap into the future of the highly anticipated new Connecticut Science Center, thanks to the science of digital animation.  A newly released, highly realistic video gracefully navigates up the Connecticut River and around the exterior of the building.  Viewers then enter the building and swoop inside Science Alley, the soaring central atrium, all as if flying on their own personal magic carpet

For the first time in life-like animation, the video shows how the new Science Center will grace the Hartford skyline from all angles.  The video also features a breathtaking flight into the heart of the Science Center and up 180 feet to the Magic Carpet roof.

This virtual tour around and inside the now under-construction Connecticut Science Center offers a thrilling preview of a major educational resource and tourism attraction, even before it’s completed.  Construction is moving ahead, with several hundred exterior glass and metal panels, also known as the curtain wall system, going into place; concrete floors, exterior masonry, and interior walls nearing completion; and installation of electrical conduits, heating and ventilation ductwork, and plumbing systems well underway.

Design of the ten galleries of exhibitions is complete, with fabrication and production of the 200+ interactive exhibits now underway.  Educational programs are in development, including curriculum support for Connecticut teachers, youth and gallery programs, weekend and evening events, as well as programming for the 3D digital theater.

About the Connecticut Science Center
The Connecticut Science Center, now under construction in downtown Hartford, will spark creative imagination and an appreciation for science by immersing visitors in fun and educational hands-on, interactive experiences.  Visitors will experience 200 exhibits in 10 galleries and a range of topics, including space and earth sciences, physical sciences, biology, the Connecticut River watershed, Connecticut inventors and innovations, a children’s gallery, and much more.  Other visitor amenities include four educational labs, a 200-seat 3D digital cinema, function room, gift store and café, and ongoing events and lectures for all ages.

The Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing science education throughout the state of Connecticut, providing learning opportunities for students and adults of all ages, and engaging the community in scientific exploration.  Opening is expected in 2009.
