Featured Exhibits

Jump, cycle, bounce, dance, compete and play your way through the Sports Lab. Immersive environments provide different lenses through which visitors experience the science beyond sports and other recreational activities as well as the evolving technologies that improve performance and safety. Discover which activities you are best at and compare your performance with that of others.

Sports Medicine/Injury
Examine Sports related injuries from the inside out at the Sports Medicine/Injury exhibit. Visitors will navigate a video monitor left-to-right and up-and-down across a graphic panel featuring an injured athlete. Every injury you come across on the athlete, from dislocated joins to fractured bones and concussions, will be explained. This interactive exhibit will let you investigate the types of injuries that are prevalent in different sports.

Ball Aerodynamics
Have you ever wondered why tennis balls are so fuzzy, or why golf balls are so dimpled? Come find the answers at the Ball Aerodynamics exhibit with our wind-stream tunnel and compare how differently textured balls withstand the wind relative to each other. Once you’ve discovered the science behind ball aerodynamics, test your knowledge by making your own textured ball to see how well it faces the wind-stream tunnel.

Skateboard Challenge
Join us in the Skateboard Challenge exhibit to understand the science behind this fast-paced sport. Practice balancing on a skateboard at different degrees of tilt-angle. A real challenge awaits you in this exhibit with a huge digital timer to see just how long you can maintain your balance while in motion.
